Sorry you feel that way...any rendition of an already existing thing is an original adaptation. Our artist lives in a small town in Central America and the money she earned making this logo will help her support herself by making art, which she loves to do, instead of making sneakers or sewing soccer balls in a gigantic factory where no one even cares enough to know her name. By drawing Kali for us, she earned what a coffee-bean picker may earn in three months time and can now spend that time she would have normally spent (10 hours a day of backbreaking labor per day) with her family or perhaps educating herself instead. We think Kali is the perfect logo for Tasty Planet..our message is one of peace and love and unity achieved by crossing into other cultures and the sharing of customs and food - it is much harder to shoot or bomb someone when you know who they are...when you have met their families and been to their towns & villages and temples, mosques and churches or very simply.. have broken bread with them...this is the mission of Tasty Planet and the message we hope our vision of Kali brings to all who see her...and yes..she does catch the eye and the heart and brings a bit of comedy to a sad, sad world...but any 'hurt' you perceive is all your own. Kali is the destroyer of ego, among other things...perhaps your own perceptions about what is 'good or bad' could use some destruction? We believe any image that turns the world's attention from greed, intolerance and war and and focuses it instead on learning about our fellow human beings... is an image well used. And...Ma Kali does not belong to the people of India alone...she belongs to all the peoples of the world....(including the Indian member of our Tasty Planet crew - who loves our vision of Kali and what she stands for.) I hope this gives you the 'real picture'. Peace to you,
Lili Kinsman
